At DuPont Elementary, Every Student is Known by the strong relationships built between students, faculty, and families. Each day starts by welcoming students at each entrance and throughout the hallways. A positive start and a smiling face ensure a sense of belonging and academic success.

Every month, DuPont displays Student of the Month signs in the neighborhood, recognizing students’ hard work and academic excellence.

“DuPont Elementary is a neighborhood school that focuses on preparing our students to be successful today and embracing the possibilities of tomorrow. I love the community I serve,” said DuPont’s principal, Stephanie Hoskins. “Having the opportunity to stay connected with families as they grow is an honor I hold dear to my heart.”

The school was named after the DuPont Company, which once employed thousands of people in Old Hickory and continues to operate there. The school began as a one-room log structure in 1790 that held elementary, middle, and high school students.

The present-day school began as a six-classroom building in 1952. Many current teachers have also been DuPont students, giving the school a strong history and community feel.

Their school colors are red, white, and black, with a bulldog as their mascot.
