Ruby Hendrickson Major served the Nashville school system for more than 40 years as a teacher, board member, community leader, and friend. Ruby Major Elementary School is named in her honor for her lifetime of service.

The mission of the elementary school is to educate the whole child, addressing both character and intelligence. The faculty and staff teach students to be critical thinkers, curious learners, and persons of integrity. In other words, they teach students to blast off to success like the Rockets they are.

The school aims to develop the full potential of each student with the support of staff, parents, students in class and community. Through performance data and research, Ruby Major will create an environment where students will develop socially, emotionally, academically, creatively, and physically to empower students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Ruby Major Elementary is making Every Student Known by investing in relationships through communication and action. Faculty and staff members support students by providing a safe environment with consistent expectations. Every Rocket is provided with a safe, engaging, organized, stable environment that includes resources before, during, and after school. Students have an opportunity to thrive every day at Ruby Major!
