Ba da ba da bah, we’re lovin’ this big award for an MNPS student-athlete: Cane Ridge High School’s Brandon Miller has been named a 2022 McDonald’s All-American, a prestigious honor for the nation’s very best high school basketball players. He’s the first MNPS student to win this recognition since Hillwood High School’s Charles Hathaway in 1996.

Miller, a small forward, most recently signed to play for the University of Alabama and is ranked No. 13 in the ESPN 100 for the Class of 2022. Standing 6’8”, he averaged 26.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 steals last season for the Ravens.

This season Miller is shattering school records for the most points scored (42) and 3-pointers made (11) during a home game – and throwing down a few crowd-astonishing dunks along the way.

The McDonald’s All-American basketball game is celebrating 45 years of elevating the best high school basketball players from across the United States. A total of 506 girls and 1,080 boys have donned the McDonald’s All-American jersey since its inception in 1977.

Miller joins a long list of WNBA and NBA All-Stars who have played in the game, including Michael Jordan, Candace Parker, LeBron James, the late Kobe Bryant and many others.

This year’s game will take place Tuesday, March 29, in Chicago and will be aired live at 8 p.m. CST.
