Fall-Hamilton Enhanced Option School ensures every student has the ability and opportunity to lead, a value that is reflected in the school motto: “Together We Lead, Together We Learn, Together We Have the Power to Change the World.”  student and teacher smiling at camera in class

The elementary school in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood was Nashville’s first Leader in Me school and has earned Leader in Me Lighthouse status every year since 2017.

Fall-Hamilton, which teaches and implements Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” in every part of the school day, is a pioneer of innovative, whole-child approaches to education that develop both the academic and emotional intelligence in their little leaders. It has become a destination school for many families.

Fall-Hamilton's committed staff members, strong community partners and high-level volunteers focus on full wraparound support and experiences for students and their families. They have a partnership with Be Well in Schools, which assists in teaching mindfulness and movement-based stress reduction tools.

Because of these many resources, Fall-Hamilton can provide robust and diverse clubs and other offerings that meet weekly. They call it Sharpen the Saw Time. This dedicated time in student schedules is just one of the many ways they ensure Every Student Is Known. students in class, smiling at camera

Additional Every Student Known strategies guarantee each student is connected to at least one adult other than their teacher in the building. Students are encouraged and given the opportunity to demonstrate and develop leadership skills, and they have leadership jobs throughout the building such as morning announcements, dismissal crew and hall monitors.

All students take part in the MTSS-A and MTSS-B (multi-tiered systems of support) program, a personalized academic and social-emotional growth plan with support.

Fall-Hamilton students and staff show school spirit by wearing their school colors of red, black and white. Their school mascot is a bear named Little Ham.

The school, which is about two miles south of downtown Nashville, began in 1970 as a merger between Fall Grammar School and Hamilton Elementary School. Fall was originally a school in the Nashville City Schools system, and Hamilton had been part of the Davidson County system.
