From its name to its construction, Pearl-Cohn reflects the history of the community it serves.

Pearl-Cohn High School opened in 1986 following the consolidation of the historic Pearl and Cohn high schools. Students and guests to the school, located in North Nashville on 26th Avenue North, enter through an arcade of six columns preserved from the front of the Washington Junior High School, and the building also incorporates stonework from Ford Greene Elementary, both schools once located on the current Pearl-Cohn site.   PearlCohnSinger

As the only known entertainment magnet high school in the country, Pearl-Cohn’s Academy of Entertainment Industry includes pathways in Audio Engineering and A/V Production/Broadcasting. Students participating in this Academy have the opportunity to earn industry certifications and produce programs for both local and national television affiliates airing weekly and around the country in the school’s state-of-the-art, $1.2 million recording studio.

In partnership with Warner Music Group, Pearl-Cohn is the first school in the nation to house a student-run recording label affiliated with a major record company.

Students can also choose cosmetology and therapeutic services in Pearl-Cohn's Academy of Health Science and Personal Care.  Pearl Cohn patient care students in class

One example of the opportunities available to students is the new Patient Care Tech program. Through a partnership with Nashville State Community College Foundation, the HCA Healthcare Foundation and Tri-Star Health, Pearl-Cohn is one of two MNPS high schools that now offer students this accelerated program – providing a career pipeline for students interested in health care to earn a credential while still in high school and start working as soon as they graduate.

There are so many extracurricular activities for Pearl-Cohn students to explore, it's hard to cover them all. The ever-popular Pearl-Cohn marching band provides an outlet for students who wish to explore their musical talents. Other clubs include robotics, creative writing, debate/speech and radio/television.

Sporting the school colors of red and black, the Firebirds’ dynamic athletic program is well recognized, with the school’s football and basketball programs consistently reaching post-season play and challenging for state championships. Pearl-Cohn offers 12 additional TSSAA sports, including baseball, girls' and boys' soccer, wrestling and cheerleading/dance, to name a few.

While the school is steeped in history, Pearl-Cohn students, staff and administration are focused on the future with innovative programs and opportunities to prepare students for college and career. Learn more on the school’s Facebook page and website.
