What the Research, Assessment, and Evaluation Team Does

Assessment

  • The Assessment team runs the state assessment program: TNReady for grades 3 to 12
  • Run district assessment program: MAP-Reading & MAP-Math for grades 2 to 9
  • Manage Pre-K assessment: GOLD
  • Co-facilitate English Learner assessments with the English Learner department: ACCESS, WAPT, and WIDA-Screener
  • Manage administration of high school assessments: ACT/SAT, AP, IB, Cambridge
  • Train users on assessment data use, platforms, and reporting

 

Research, Evaluation, and Surveys

  • Administer School Climate Surveys to all students, teachers, and staff
  • Work with other MNPS departments to internally evaluate programs and monitor progress
  • Review formal requests to conduct research from external and internal stakeholders
  • Partner with local universities on research
  • Provide researchers with custom data sets
  • Conduct statistical analyses

 

Data Support, Coaching, and Accountability

  • Provide district-level support with reporting and interpretation
  • Provide school-level data support and trainings
  • Fulfill internal and external data requests
  • Collaborate with Data Warehouse, IT, and Data Quality teams
  • Complete federal reports (e.g., Office of Civil Rights)
  • Historical and current data archiving
  • Manage accountability appeals, reporting, and training
