Sixteen MNPS students have been named semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, placing them in the top 1 percent of high school seniors in the United States.
Our students are among 16,000 academically talented seniors from across the country who had the highest scores on the 2021 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test when they were juniors. From that group, more than 15,000 will be named finalists in February, and three types of scholarships totaling nearly $28 million will be awarded to approximately 7,250 students next spring and summer.
National Merit Scholarship winners are selected based on skills, accomplishments and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
