Fifteen MNPS seniors have been named finalists for the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship, putting them in the top 1 percent of all high school seniors graduating this spring across the United States.
Just 15,000 students were named finalists for the scholarship, which will be awarded based on skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
“Congratulations to all of this year’s finalists for one of the nation’s most prestigious honors for graduating seniors,” Director of Schools Dr. Adrienne Battle said. “Each of them has shown great talent, drive, and determination to get to this point, and I know their family members, teachers, principals, and other staff members have been there with them every step of the way.”
