Your child’s first step in their educational journey is almost here, and it’s time to apply for Pre-K!
If your child turns four-years-old on or before August 15, 2024, we are here to help you apply for our nationally esteemed Pre-K program.
- Note: Some of our programs also accept three-year-old students. To learn more about birthdate cutoffs and eligibility, visit our Early Learning website.
While our early learning program continues to grow, Pre-K seats are limited, so families should apply sooner rather than later to secure their child’s spot. The initial application window is March 1 – April 1; after this, families will be placed on a waitlist where daily pulls will be made to fill the remaining vacancies. Families are still encouraged to apply after April 1.
At MNPS, our Pre-K programs are vibrant hubs of learning designed to nurture your child's growth and confidence, setting them on a path for life-long learning and success in kindergarten and beyond. With experienced teachers and dedicated support staff, our classrooms are full of wonder and exploration.
Apply in Three Easy Steps
Applying for Pre-K is a bit different than our traditional K-12 enrollment, but with our streamlined online process, it can be completed in three steps:
- Gather Your Documents: Ensure you have your child's birth certificate, proof of residency, and a parent/guardian ID ready.
- Create Your Account: Head over to the MNPS Online Registration Portal to create an account and obtain a Student ID number for your little one.
- Submit Your Application: Complete the Pre-K Application online, then keep an eye on your email for next steps!
Accepting Your Child's Seat
After applying, families will receive instructions on how to view selection results and, if selected, can accept their child’s seat by the deadline.

Prefer the personal touch? You can also apply for a student ID in person at any of our eight Enrollment Centers.
