With one visit to Granbery Elementary School, you will quickly see how diverse their school family is and you will hear it, too, because their student body speaks more than 26 languages.
“Our families bring a wide array of cultures and experiences [to our school community],” said Emily Kajihara, the executive principal at Granbery. “We embrace these cultures as one of the reasons why Granbery is so special.”
The rich culture of Granbery is supported by a staff that works to make it a special home for students and families. Some of those teachers even attended Granbery as children themselves. 
The faculty and staff at Granbery are committed to making sure Every Student is Known as well as their families. Every student checks in weekly and meets monthly with a Navigator for support with schoolwork and general social and emotional pulse checks. New this year is the Granbery Pantry, which provides families with clothing, food, household supplies, and other necessities every Wednesday afternoon. Translators and teachers are also on site to help students with homework.
Granbery, which is named after James T. Granbery, currently sits on the land owned by the Granbery family since the 1800s. The school opened its doors in 1964 to 176 students in first through sixth grades, with a six-member faculty. Today, more than 650 students in kindergarten through fourth grade attend Granbery.
